Blog Question #5

Predicting what will happen in the book...

Read the following introduction for The Slave Dancer.  At the end is the sentence "During the voyage, he...".   Your task is to finish that sentence and write a paragraph that makes at least three predictions about what will happen in the book.  Think about what he might witness, feel, and do while aboard the slave ship.   Be genuine, creative, and specific in your predictions; we will revisit them throughout the novel.

"Jessie Boller, a boy living in New Orleans in1840, enjoys playuing his fifie, ut this muscial talent gets him into trouble in an unexpected way.  Slavers who notice Jessie's plauing kidnap him and take him to The Moonlight, a slave ship carrying a cargo of rum to trade for African slaves.  Disease, whippings, and cries of torment are daily occurences for the captives and crew.  It becomes Jessie's duty to "dance" the slaves by playing his fife.  During the voyage, he..."
